Awakening Counseling & Coaching works with anyone who is affected by cancer, including spouses/partners, parents, adult children, other family members, and friends. If you’re like most people who are in the close personal circle of someone with cancer:
- you feel as though you’re embarking on unknown territory.
- you don’t know what to do or say to help.
- you sometimes feel like you can’t say or do anything “right.”
- you feel helpless.
- you feel like you shouldn’t complain, because you’re not the one with cancer.
- you feel sad, afraid, and angry, but you don’t talk about your feelings, because you’re afraid people wouldn’t understand (because you’re not the one with cancer).
The good news is, you don’t have to face this experience alone.
Awakening Counseling & Coaching helps people to manage the “caregiver journey” more easily.
You are affected by cancer too. Your life has been turned upside down too. You have the right to have feelings and sort through them.
You not only have the right to get support for yourself without feeling guilty…you deserve to have support for yourself!
Working with Awakening Counseling & Coaching, you will:
- feel empowered to navigate the “caregiver journey” and manage the challenges and difficulties in a way that works for you.
- learn how to support your loved one more effectively, so that you don’t feel as helpless.
- learn specific practical strategies and approaches to get the support you need and take care of yourself so that you can support your loved one better.
- feel less isolated as you are able to help others understand what you’re going through and how to support you better. (You deserve support for yourself!)
- experience relief from feeling overwhelmed and fearful and take charge over the things you can so that you feel more in control of the process.
Welcome! My name is Dawn Stratton and I’ve found that it is possible to do the above with someone to accompany you along the way. I had a cancer diagnosis over 8 years ago, so I can understand the challenges that accompany the experience. I watched my loved ones suffer along with me. I saw a counselor over the course of my illness and beyond, and found that the experience was much easier in doing so. I have over 17 years experience in human services professions and have worked with many cancer survivors and their loved ones, helping them to navigate the cancer journey. I have witnessed the help that loved ones can gain by getting support for themselves and I have helped many people learn how to support their loved ones more effectively. I can help you to do the same.
Are you ready to make the “caregiver experience” easier?
Here are the next steps I suggest:
